Poem for Saturday-- The Me Bird

The Me Bird

I am the Pablo Bird,
bird of a single feather,
a flier in the clear shadow
and obscure clarity,
my wings are unseen,
my ears resound
when I walk among the trees
or beneath the tombstones
like an unlucky umbrella
or a naked sword,
stretched like a bow
or round like a grape,
I fly on and on not knowing,
wounded in the dark night,
who is waiting for me,
who does not want my song,
who desires my death,
who will not know I'm arriving
and will not come to subdue me,
to bleed me, to twist me,
or to kiss my clothes,
torn by the shrieking wind.
That's why I come and go,
fly and don't fly but sing:
I am the furious bird
of the calm storm.

FBI Warns-- Witch Recruiting Washington Wierdos

We reported not so long ago that upon abandoning her West Texas digs, at least temporarily, to go in search of Lulu, a certain Witch released her enchanted West Texas weirdos. They had long been loose in West Texas living as Chupacabras, after having been transformed by the Witch upon signing up for her art school wickidity special. It has long been her practice to entice art school graduates away from their coffee house jobs with promises of strangeness and danger only to enslave them as Chupacabras and set them to terrifying the denizens of whatever area she has chosen to torment. It should be noted that so far none of the former Chupacabras have had any complaints about their time with the Witch, most seeming disenchanted with the idea of returning to normal, everyday life. Many, in fact, are reported to be contemplating hitch-hiking to Washington to seek their old jobs back. Rumor has it the next weirdos are to be transformed into Sasquatches rather than Chupacabras. That has yet to be discovered, but it would make some sense, as there is a long history of Sasquatch activity in this region. In the mean time, one might just want to sit back and enjoy a little video.

Weird Creature: The Comb Jelly

Pretty but brainless, with a huge appetite. What's not to love? Up here in the Black Mansion, work on becoming bioluminescent continues. The theory is that the ability to glow will make all other fashion accessories obsolete. Soon, we'll glow.

Fans of Awesomeness: Behold the Blue Dragon

It eats the deadly poisonous Man of War. It stores the venom. It's hermaphroditic and tiny and really beautiful. This is one cool animal.

Poem for Monday

From Paterson Book IV

a cavity aching
toward fission; a hollow,
a woman waiting to be filled

- a luminosity of elements, the
current leaping!
Pitchblende from Austria, the
valence of Uranium inexplicably
increased. Curie, the man, gave up
his work to buttress her.

But she is pregnant!
Poor Joseph,

the Italians say.

Glory to God in the highest
and on earth, peace, goodwill to
men!

Believe it or not.

A dissonance
in the valence of Uranium
led to the discovery [dissonance = juxtaposing, anti-metaphor]

Dissonance
(if you are interested)
leads to discovery

- to dissect away
the block and leave
a separate metal:

hydrogen
the flame, helium the
pregnant ash

Haunted Heap No More

Haunted Heap abandoned we've taken refuge in new Walla digs. A powerful charm conjured should keep Wickidity far at bay. The required ingredients? Mercury and Sasquatch fur, eye of Chupacabra extracted with a butterfly antenna, mountain laurel seeds, the needles of a San Pedro cactus and a bit of Armillaria ostoyae. Haunted no longer.
