Good Times Walla Walla

Springtime in Walla Walla, this is the scene. I'm super, you're super, we're all super good here. The sky is bright and the sun is sunny, and all around we're feeling funny. Yes, it's a funny feeling, as if one could take a walk upon the ceiling. Where have I read that before? Oh, yes. It was here. Roger's Upside-Down Day. He'd have been right at home in this video. Anyhow, Lulu, if you decide to take a walk on the ceiling, do be careful. Gravity may be only a theory, but it has a way of being a fairly convincing one. Take a rule out of our playbook and be madly chic.

Spring. Walla Walla

Lately the weather has been perfect. Until winter returns we are looking forward to perfect days for strolls and bike rides. Walla Walla is truly a great place to be this time of year. In the spring our thoughts turn to outdoor activities. Tomorrow we shall venture out into the wilds. To see Bigfoot in the Blues is our next adventure. Of course, we’ll take him a sandwich. What kind? Anchovy, perhaps. Lutefisk, maybe. Liverwurst, certainly. And of course peanut butter and banana. We must prepare. A sandwich is always the best lure. Lemon pepper chicken is sometimes effective. Lots of sandwiches. That's the main rule.

Holy Heck-- This is Our New Favorite Song, Or Something

An animal for a beard? Screeching vocals? Hairy face masks? Oh, and lycra. Seriously, you need this. But, Lulu, caution is advised because if you get this as an earworm it will mean certain insanity.

Alcohol in Space

Which brings to mind this story of the scientific importance of deep space alcohol. Very interesting stuff, that. It's doubtful that there's really any champaign out there, though. But still.

Poem for Saturday-- The Me Bird

The Me Bird

I am the Pablo Bird,
bird of a single feather,
a flier in the clear shadow
and obscure clarity,
my wings are unseen,
my ears resound
when I walk among the trees
or beneath the tombstones
like an unlucky umbrella
or a naked sword,
stretched like a bow
or round like a grape,
I fly on and on not knowing,
wounded in the dark night,
who is waiting for me,
who does not want my song,
who desires my death,
who will not know I'm arriving
and will not come to subdue me,
to bleed me, to twist me,
or to kiss my clothes,
torn by the shrieking wind.
That's why I come and go,
fly and don't fly but sing:
I am the furious bird
of the calm storm.
-Pablo Neruda
